Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge – Anahuac NWR is one of more than 540 refuges that comprise the National Wildlife Refuge System, a national network of lands and waters set aside for the benefit of wildlife, and you!

Brazos Bend State Park – Not far from downtown Houston lies Brazos Bend State Park (S.P.), a scenic haven for birdwatchers and wildlife observers. More than 270 species of birds have been sighted here, and the prehistoric-looking American alligator is the park’s most noteworthy resident. Hiking and biking trails meander through the park’s varied terrains, and several lakes offer excellent fishing.

Over six miles of paved, all-weather, handicapped-accessible hiking trails are available.

Mercer Arboretum – 20 acres of theme gardens, seasonal wildflower sites, hiking trails, picnic areas, and canoeing.

Millie Bush Bark Park – Dog Parks are places designated and built specifically for you AND your dog to socialize and exercise safely and off-leash.

Nature Discovery Center – The Hana & Arthur Ginzbarg Nature Discovery Center is a warm and friendly place where children and families share the joy of discovery. It is housed in the old Henshaw home, nestled in Russ Pitman Park, a four-acre rural retreat in the midst of the city of Bellaire, Texas.

The Forbidden Gardens – Forbidden Gardens, in Katy, Texas, is a fascinating outdoor museum replicating some of China’s major historic scenes. Guided tours take you back to the third century BC to view the first Emperor’s amazing 6,000 piece terra-cotta army replicated in 1/3 scale.

Battleship Texas – In 1948, the Battleship TEXAS became the first battleship memorial museum in the U.S. That same year, on the anniversary of Texas Independence, the Texas was presented to the State of Texas and commissioned as the flagship of the Texas Navy.

George Observatory – The George Observatory, located about one hour¿s drive south of Houston in the attractive Brazos Bend State Park, is a satellite facility of the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Heritage Society – Houston’s historical homes

Houston Livestock and Rodeo – The 4-H scholarship program is one of the Show’s oldest, with 1,645 4-H scholarships awarded since the Show began presenting scholarships in 1957.

Kemah Boardwalk – Located in Kemah, the Kemah Boardwalk has restaurants, boutiques, and amusement rides.

Moody Gardens – Moody Gardens® began in the mid ’80s with only a horse barn and riding arena. The purpose was to begin a hippotherapy riding program for people with head injuries. Today Moody Gardens® is one of the premier educational/recreational facilities in the Southwest. It also provides horticultural therapy, education and employment for persons with a wide range of physical and emotional disabilities.

Orange Show – The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art is a non-profit organization, founded in 1980, to preserve and present works of extraordinary imagination and provide people the opportunity to express their personal artistic vision.

Country Clubs and Golf Clubs

Kingwood Country Club – The Clubs of Kingwood is hailed as one of the “World’s Largest Private Country Clubs.” It is made up of the flagship Kingwood Country Club, the Deerwood Club and the Atascocita County Club. Combined, they offer 117 holes of championship golf, 34 tennis courts, five swimming pools, lighted driving range, 10 dining rooms and banquet facilities for an intimate dinner for two or golf outing for 1,000. But it is the friendships among Members that make the Club a special place.

Walden Country Club – This is definitely a target course. The greens are undulating, and the fairways are plush. Beware of the numerous sand bunkers incorporated into the course’s design.

Redstone Golf Course – The Stage for the Sport’s Finest Performance. The Redstone Golf Club is owned by The Redstone Companies and is under the Redstone Golf Management umbrella. Redstone Golf Club has been the host of the Shell Houston Open for the past several years.

Oakhurst Golf Club – After undegoing a huge renovation in 2004, Oakhurst Golf Club is now considered one of “Houston’s Best Kept Golf Secret”!
